CALDWELL, Idaho (Aug. 16, 2022)— A great score at a big rodeo couldn’t have happened at a better time than on Tuesday night for Sterling Crawley at the Caldwell Night Rodeo.

Crawley from Stephenville, Texas, was 86 points on Outlawbuckers Rodeo’s Ol Tubs Little Muffin. It was an important ride for the 12-year member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association who has competed at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo seven times.

He wants to make that at least eight and is on the bubble for a qualification this year. Crawley is 14th in the world standings and has six more weeks of the regular season to try to improve his position and stay inside the top 15. If he does that, he will be in Las Vegas in December competing for a gold buckle.

“What a horse,”

sterling crawley – saddle bronc rider

“What a horse,” Crawley said. “It couldn’t have come at a better time for me. She was outstanding and I just tried to stay with her. Caldwell has been good to me in the past and there is nothing like making a victory lap in front of the rowdies and civies here.”

High scores and fast times get to experience the fans enthusiasm through those victory laps and through the years, they have become legendary. Making his first trip around the D & B Arena and being part of the frenzy was bareback rider Rocker Steiner.

Steiner from Weatherford, Texas, scored 88 points on another horse from Outlawbuckers Rodeo, Turn Back Time.  He is currently fourth in the world standings, is leading the Resistol Rookie of the Year race in the bareback riding and is headed to his first NFR.

The bareback riders and saddle bronc riders compete in a full round that will be complete on Friday night. Then the top 12 will advance to Saturday’s  Championship Night.

The second performance gets underway at 8 p.m. August 17th at D & B Arena where awareness of domestic violence through the Man Up Crusade will be featured.
