DENVER, Colo. (Jan. 14, 2025) — The second night of bull riding action at the National Western Stock Show in the Denver Coliseum saw riders getting big scores or dusting off their disappointment  as they left the arena.

The second performance of the Professional Bull Riders sanctioned competition featured over 40 riders on the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour. It completed the first round which started on Monday. When it was all said and done, 23 of the 85 riders were successful and will be among those that qualified for Wednesday night’s semifinals. Those riders will have an advantage in their quest to qualify for Wednesday night’s finals which is based on the highest total scores on two head.  The man with the highest total score on three bulls will be crowned the champion and earn the lion’s share of the prize money.

Tuesday night saw Claudio Montanha Jr., from Sao Paulo, Brazil having the high-marked ride of round one. He scored 91 points on Cooper/Scruggs Bucking Bulls “The Paint” to win the first round. Andrew Alvidrez finished second with an 87.5. Alvidrez from Seminole, Texas, also rode on Tuesday night.

Cort McFadden from Novice, Texas, that rode Monday finished third. Rounding out the top four was another Texan, Sage Steele Kimzey who tied with McFadden Tuesday night. Both of these men had 87 point rides.

Professional Bull Riders action will be completed with the semifinals and finals on Wednesday night beginning at 7 p.m.
