Nashville, Tenn. (October 24, 2024) — At 20-years-old, country singer BJ Jamison is a rodeo veteran, a truck driver, and a rancher — life experiences that feed his songs and set him up as a next-generation country star. Jamison understands the blue-collar, calloused hands and muddy boots lifestyle because he lives it daily.

The Nebraska native releases his debut EP Whiskey Broken Heart today.

“It’s your classic heartbreak song of you get your heart broken and then you go to the bar,” Jamison says of the title track. “I want to sound like it’s right out of the ‘80s and ‘90s. When people hear it, I want it to remind them of George Strait.”

“Whiskey Broken Heart” lyrics include: I’m Tryin’ to drown | What could have been | Runnin’ from the truth 80 proof | Is a real good place to start | When you’re workin’ on a whiskey | Workin’ on a whiskey broken heart

Jamison teamed with artist and songwriter Dave Gibson of the Gibson Miller Band, who produced the EP.

“BJ Jamison is one of the most talented young guns in the ‘Back to Real Country’ movement coming out of Nashville,” Gibson notes. “He’s not only a great singer but a cool guitar slinger, and I’m proud to be producing him. He’s the real deal.”

The country newcomer and the icon worked together to home in on Jamison’s sound. The singer played Gibson an array of songs from his influences, including Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakam, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard.

With his deep roots in rodeo and ranching, the lifestyle depicted in country music is authentic to Jamison. His dad was a rodeo star, and his mother–who plays in his band– is a rodeo queen. He is one of the most popular singers in the Midwest, an area known for its vast farmland. When he isn’t on stage, Jamison is helping his parents on their ranch and is up to his elbows in fertilizer and hay. Then he scrubs up, and headlines shows all over the region.

He’s excited to add his new songs to his live shows.

“I really am super excited about every one of these songs,” Jamison says. “I feel like Whiskey Broken Heart has a lot of potential. It’s modern country with a traditional sound. It could have come right out of 1991.”

Jamison hopes listeners find songs they relate to on his EP and can play the music nonstop because they relate to it.

“My satisfaction is going to come when people tell me they’ve lived these songs,” he says. “I’ve got a lot of faith in these songs.”
