ChristinaAUSTIN, Texas –The Carolina Cowboys (11-1-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season last night with a flawless performance on Sunday against the New York Mavericks (6-8), 492.25-88.75, inside Moody Center during the final day of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Camping World Team Series Gambler Days.
In Carolina’s second perfect game of the season, and fourth in league history, Adriano Salgado, Dawson Branton, Derek Kolbaba, Daylon Swearingen and Cooper Davis all made the 8 to defeat New York. Already up two ride scores to none, Salgado put the game away early to close out the third frame, riding Flyin Wired for a monstrous 92 points, the second-highest ride score of the weekend.
The Cowboys’ 492.25 points totaled the third-highest in PBR Teams history.
The Cowboys hold a 2.5-game lead atop the 2024 PBR Teams standings after a 1-1 trip to Texas. Courtesy of a 2-1 weekend, the Mavericks climbed to No. 8 in the standings.
Sunday afternoon’s action began with a thriller as the Texas Rattlers (6-8) bested the Oklahoma Wildcatters (5-8-1), 258.75-177.25, in a seesaw affair that featured five rides. Eduardo Matos opened the day’s competition by riding Triple Aught for a game-high 89 points, but Texas’s Lone Star State duo of Daniel Keeping and Mason Taylor turned the tables in the third and fourth frames, giving the Rattlers a 174.5-89 lead. Taking advantage of a re-ride opportunity, Josh Frost stole the lead back for Oklahoma, riding Lapua away from his handfor 88.25 points. However, Claudio Montanha Jr. stole the show in the game’s final out, surviving mayhem in the bucking chute, making it out onto the dirt with five seconds left on the clock, then hanging on to Lap Dancer for 84.25 points to secure the win for Texas.
Texas concluded PBR Teams’ third annual Gambler Days 2-1 to rise to No. 6 in the standings, while the Wildcatters went 1-2 to fall to No. 9.
In the second game of the day, the Florida Freedom (6-7) bested the Arizona Ridge Riders (4-9), 231-89.25. Florida never looked back after Alex Cerqueira put the Freedom up early by riding The Kraken for 87.25 points. After Joao Lucas Campos extended Florida’s lead by riding Let’s Roll for 88.25 points, Keyshawn Whitehorse broke through for Arizona in the fourth frame for 89.25 points on Constant Payne. However, John Crimber converted in Florida’s final out to put the game out of reach, moving the rookie to an impressive 10-for-17 on the season despite a buckoff later in the shootout round.
Florida finished its trip to the Lone Star State 1-1 and is currently No. 5 in the standings, while Arizona dropped both of its games in Austin, extending its winless skid to six games to sit at No. 10, despite entering Sunday with the third-highest ride percentage in the league.
In the final game of the weekend, the Austin Gamblers (7-7) finally found the win column on home turf, defeating the Missouri Thunder (6-8), 177.75-0. After Lucas Divino got it started for the hometown team by riding Mike’s Motive for a game-high 89.25 points, Jose Vitor Leme took a victory lap in the final out aboard Hoka Hey for 88.5 points to extend his lead atop the MVP standings with his two previous MVP banners already hanging in the Moody Center rafters.
After a 1-2 weekend at home, the Gamblers sit at No. 3 in the standings while the Thunder, who went 1-1 in the Lone Star State, head into their homestand next weekend ranked No. 7.

About the PBR Camping World Team Series
The PBR Camping World Team Series is an elite league featuring the world’s top bull riders competing on teams in five-on-five games during a 12-event regular season leading to a Team Championship at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. During the 2024 season, the league’s third, each of the 10 teams – Austin Gamblers of Austin, TX; Arizona Ridge Riders of Glendale, AZ; Carolina Cowboys of Greensboro, NC; Florida Freedom of Sunrise, FL; Kansas City Outlaws of Kansas City, MO; Nashville Stampede of Nashville, TN; New York Mavericks of Brooklyn, NY; OK; Oklahoma Wildcatters of Oklahoma City, OK; Missouri Thunder of Springfield, MO; and Texas Rattlers of Fort Worth, TX – will host a homestand and two Neutral-site games are planned in Anaheim, CA and Duluth, GA.
PBR Teams, launched in July 2022, builds on the existing structure of professional bull riding with the same basic rules for judging and scoring qualified 8-second bull rides. In events staged in a tournament-style format, all teams compete in head-to-head matchups against a different opponent each day. Each game features five riders per team squaring off against another team. Full team rosters are comprised of seven riders on the Protected Roster and five Reserve riders. The team with the highest aggregate score of qualified rides among its riders is declared the winner of each game.
All PBR Teams events are carried on either CBS Television Network, streaming live on Paramount+, and Merit Street Media/Merit+. For more information, visit PBR.com, or follow on Facebook at Facebook.com/PBR, Twitter at Twitter.com/PBR, and YouTube at YouTube.com/PBR.
