NASHVILLE, TN (April 12, 2024) – Grant Gilbert, the resident Texan of River House Artists, is back with a new track, “Drunk Since Dallas,” now available everywhere. Produced by Lukas Scott and written by Gilbert, Forrest Finn, and Joe Whelan, the song is set to become a fan favorite with its catchy, relatable lyrics about a breakup.
The song not only showcases Gilbert’s talent and ability to write great country songs that sound like instant classics but also resonates with listeners who have experienced the pain of a relationship ending.
“As a songwriter, you’re always on the lookout for ideas for a song. On a trip to Florida, one of my friends arrived after he’d been drinking all day at the airport,”
“When he showed up, he said, ‘Man, I’ve been drunk since Dallas.”
I wrote the song the following week. As a Texan, I figured it was about time I had a song about Dallas.”
GRANT GILBERT
“Drunk Since Dallas” is the second single from Grant Gilbert this year, following the playful track “Turn It Down” featuring Ashland Craft. Gilbert’s 2023 was a milestone year, marked by the release of his well-received EP ‘Between the Highways’ and his first Number One on the Texas Regional Radio chart with the rowdy drinking anthem “Six Pack State of Mind,” featuring fellow Texan Josh Abbott. ABOUT GRANT GILBERT
Cut from the Texas country cloth yet rocking a style of his own design, River House artist Grant Gilbert has a history of self-made wins, streaming success, and big-name believers. Raised on a cattle ranch in tiny Santo, Texas, Gilbert was inspired by everything from his grandparents’ Texas swing and fiddle tunes to his dad’s penchant for Springsteen, Petty, and the country hits of the ‘80s.
He dove head first into Lubbock, Texas, a town famous for its vibrant live-country scene, while a student at Texas Tech. He eventually made his way to Nashville, where he spent time writing with hit songwriters like Brad Clawson, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Dan Isbell, as well as recording with producer/songwriter Jonathan Singleton. Tracks like “She Goes Home (Dirty Breakup Song),” “God & Everyone,” and “What’s Stopping Us” racked up nearly 2 million streams on Spotify alone, mixing that gritty Lubbock edge with a youthful passion for life and love.
Gilbert had a landmark year in 2023 with the release of his well-received EP Between the Highways and logged his first number one on the Texas Regional Radio chart with his rowdy drinking track “Six Pack State of Mind” featuring fellow Texan Josh Abbott. He also released his flirtatious track, “Turn It Down,” as a duet with Ashland Craft. Gilbert has always been his own man, working to make his place in the world. With big things on the horizon, he won’t stop now.
