NASHVILLE, TENN. – Established Country songwriter and performing artist, Dallas Remington, known for her energy and ambition, has released her new project “Life In Podunk,” to digital music platforms. The song is a Country anthem for navigating life’s unexpected turns written by Dallas Remington, Cyndi Limbaugh TorresNancy Deckant and Scott Barrier. “Life In Podunk” is available HERE.

“Kenzie got pregnant‘ neath the harvest moon
From side lines to pink lines
In the locker room
Now the Quarterback’s a skipping practice for the ultrasounds
Shotgun wedding backyard at daddy’s house
She’s 17 at prom and already showin’
That’s how life in Podunk goes yeah

Tyler got a Crimson Tide scholarship
Had to ditch it for the diapers
And the graveyard shift
Now him and Kenzie livin’ that single-wide life
Baby in the carriage, couple dogs, man & wife now
They’re18 got their own roots growin’
That’s how life in Podunk goes yeah

Some dreams get broke, some dreams get changed
Either way it goes
A dream just the same
You go with what you got,
Ya work with what you have
Sometimes you gotta make good outta the bad
Cause you can’t un-grow them seeds you been sewin’
That’s how Life in Podunk goes yeah’…”

“This is one of my favorite songs that I’ve written. It’s one of those songs that makes me “feel like a songwriter”. I love how we captured the life so many people I know have lived. Growing up, we all struggled to decide whether to stay home and build a life or leave to find a different life. While the couple in this song chose not to leave after finding out they were pregnant, they went on to live a life they would never trade and I think that’s beautiful. Personally, the lyrics from this chorus helped me decide to relocate to Key West for my music career. “Some dreams get broken, some dreams get changed either way it goes a dream just the same.” Being in the music industry, you feel like you HAVE to be in Nashville. But in reality, it doesn’t matter where you are if you’re doing what you love and living the life you want to live. I think there is something for everyone in this song for whatever they’re going through. After all, we’re all just chasing dreams!” exclaimed Dallas Remington.

Let’s not forget how this song started. Cyndi’s graduation party was a lively affair, a celebration filled with warm friends and family. Amidst the crowd, a woman in a pink flowered summer sundress leaned toward her friend, whispering with a part concern and part juicy scandal, “Kenzie got pregnant on her honeymoon.” The words hung in the air, and we all exchanged knowing glances. In unison we said “Oh, we’re definitely writing that song!” recalled co-writer Nancy Deckant

“The first time I heard the idea for the song ‘Life in Podunk’ was at my college graduation party.  Songwriting is like that, it has a place in every other part of my life,” shared co-writer Cyndi Limbaugh Torres

Co-writer Scott Barrier added, “I loved being one of the writers on ‘Life in Podunk’. It spoke to my redneck and hillbilly sides of me, and it was a lot of fun writing it with Dallas, Cyndi and Nancy! Dallas sounds great on it and nails the vibe of the song!”

Production, engineering, and mixing were done by Corey Lawson at Claw Sound Studios, with mastering by Harold Larue. Studio musicians on the project included Dave Ryan (drums and percussion), Corey Lawson (Acoustic/electric guitars, banjo), Phil Anthony (Bass), Deforest Brown (Keys), Andy Ellison (Dobro) and BGVs by Natalie Brady
