CALDWELL, Idaho (Aug 15, 2024) –The fans at the Caldwell Night Rodeo didn’t care that Kade Bruno calls Challis, Idaho home. They did care that the Idaho native had an outstanding saddle bronc ride, got to take a victory lap and will be back here for the Championship Finals on Saturday night.

Bruno rode a horse named Lyin’ Lunatic from Wyoming’s Burch Rodeo Company for 87 points. He is now tied with Chase Brooks from Montana for first place. With one more night of regular competition, their lead could be in jeopardy, but their opportunity to ride here again will not be.

The 12 highest scores from the first round in the saddle bronc riding and bareback riding will compete again on Saturday night. In the steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, breakaway roping and barrel racing, there have been two preliminary rounds. Times are added together and the 12 with the fastest total on two will be back vying for the lion’s share of the prize money and the coveted prize package that is special for Caldwell Night Rodeo’s 100th anniversary.

The bull riding features one full round of competition with each performance featuring a new set of competitors. With power-house bulls from Powder River Rodeo Company, successful rides have been few and far between.

The first and second performances each had two successful riders. Thursday night’s rodeo saw the bulls dominating and none of the competitors got a score. Friday and Saturday’s riders will be hoping to do better.

The fourth performance of the Caldwell Night Rodeo will begin in D & B Arena on Friday night at 8 p.m. It will see the conclusion of all preliminary competition and set the field for the finals.
