FORT WORTH, Texas, (Jan.30, 2024) — The brackets at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Pro Rodeo Tournament are now complete, and no one has shined any brighter than Danielle Lowman.
Lowman from Gilbert, Arizona, competed in the breakaway roping in Bracket 7 and was the high money earner.
She tied for first place in round one with Sarah Angelone from Lipan, Texas.
Lowman came back on Tuesday night and was once again at the top of the board, but this time her name was the only one on the line.
Riding her great mare Ruf N Shine that she calls Shi’Biz, Lowman stopped the clock in 1.6 seconds.
That is the fastest time recorded in the breakaway roping in Dickies Arena since the event was added and the rodeo moved to the new venue in 2020.
Before Tuesday night, three women had clocked times of 1.7 seconds.
Lowman has won $3,750 here so far and will be a favorite as she competes in the Semi-Finals.
When the announcer said she had set the record, it was hard to tell who was happier – Lowman or her fellow competitors.
She smiled all the way out of the arena and was greeted by the rest of the field with more smiles and congratulations.
Steer wrestling was fast on Tuesday as well with Justin Shaffer from Hallsville, Texas, doing the best at 3.5 seconds.
Shaffer owns the record for the fastest time here at 3.1 seconds set in 2019.
Chance Oftedahl from Pemberton, Minnesota, gets another opportunity to compete here on Wednesday after winning the tie-down roping on Tuesday.
Oftedahl stopped the clock in 7.8 seconds and is headed to the Wild Card competition, where the two best will advance to the Semi-Finals.
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world standings leaders showed fans the team roping skills that have them on top.
Dustin Egusquiza, of Marianna, Florida, and Levi Lord, from Sturgis, South Dakota, did the heading and heeling in 3.8 seconds for the win.
Sharin Hall from Pilot Point, Texas, who had an emotional barrel racing win on her great horse “Stella.”
They were the final duo out of the gate and went from last to first with a time of 16.42 seconds. Now Hall and Stella will be running in the Semi-Finals.
The Wild Card round will start at 7:30 on Wednesday with contestants working to advance to the Semi-Finals on Thursday and Friday night.
