CALDWELL, Idaho (Aug. 18, 2022)— There was a blonde bombshell that had rodeo fans on the edge of their seats at the Caldwell Night Rodeo during the third performance.
That blonde has four legs and is known in the rodeo world as “Sister,” a palomino mare owned and ridden by barrel racer Hailey Kinsel. The duo has won three world championships together and have become fan favorites across the country.

This is now true of Caldwell, Idaho. Kinsel is experiencing something new in her seven years of membership in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association, rodeos in the Northwestern part of the country. She started that out here on Tuesday where the first round of barrel racing was complete.

When it was all done, she and D.M. Sissy Hayday, “Sister” were at the top of the leaderboard with a 17.27 second run. That earned them a check for nearly $2,500. Then they came back to the D & B Arena on Thursday night and stopped the clock in 17.40 seconds. While that time is not placing in the second round, combined with her first-round time it put her third overall and she now has another opportunity to compete in front of the civies and the rowdies that make up Caldwell’s fans.

Kinsel has been seasoning young horses and gave Sister a rest for a good part of the summer, planning to bring her north and compete at the season-ending rodeos across Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Her mother, Leslie Kinsel has been keeping the 11-year-old athlete in shape and she was more than ready for competition.

The next two performances of the Caldwell Night Rodeo are sold out but can be watched on The Cowboy Channel. Action in D & B Arena gets underway at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
